Edmonton Transit Stations

Glulam was used on this Prairie Wood Design award-winning project to blend structural wood design with thriving neighbourhoods along this important transportation route.

This project included 2 stations - MacEwan and Nait, and a transit centre - Kingsway - constructed with Glulam beams, as well as Westdek panels. Wood product was used to create bright, welcoming spaces, and to help blend the stations in to the existing neighbourhoods. It also offered a better value when compared to steel structure, especially for the undulating roofs. The carbon benefit of the wood structure is the equivalent of taking 178 cards off the road for one year.
