Southport Aerospace Residence
The Southport Aerospace Residence features a 14,000 sq ft mass timber design with glulam as a defining element. This LEED-certified building supports Southport’s sustainability goals while serving as a dynamic hub for employees and the community.
The Southport Aerospace Residence in Manitoba showcases the versatility and performance of mass timber construction in a modern administrative setting. At 14,000 square feet, this two-story building features an architectural mass timber design that highlights glue-laminated timber (glulam) as both a structural and aesthetic centerpiece. Western Archrib supplied glulam for the project, which defines the building’s striking exterior with expressive timber elements, including angled supports that contribute to its dynamic form.
Designed by f-BLOK architecture, the LEED-certified facility aligns with Southport’s commitment to environmental stewardship and its journey toward net-zero emissions. The use of glulam provided the strength and flexibility required for the external kinetic wall and expansive interior spaces, while also delivering the warmth and natural beauty of exposed wood. More than a workplace, the new administration building acts as a gateway to the community, supporting economic growth and embodying sustainable, future-ready design.
