Ritchie Market
A neighbourhood-focused, multi-use building containing local businesses in a shared, collaborative space. The second floor features an innovative Glulam beam and concrete composite system that was mechanically engineered into a cohesive structural unit.
Ritchie is an historic Edmonton community that is attracting a new generation of residents. Poul Mark and Greg Zeschuck envisioned a neighbourhood hub where people could shop for locally-produced goods in an atmosphere that harkens back to the community’s early days. Their open-concept market was designed around transparency: a place where customers can see their coffee being roasted, their meat being cut, and their beer being brewed. The second floor features an innovative Douglas Fir Glulam beam and concrete composite system that was mechanically engineered into a cohesive structural unit.
