The Glulam Pin-Wheel Roof is a One-of-a-Kind Feature at Old Crow Community Centre

Old Crow, YT

The new Community Centre in Old Crow, YT includes a Community Hall, Commercial Kitchen, an Elder's Hall, Game's room, meeting spaces, administrative offices, and support spaces. This new build features a stunning, pin-wheel style Douglas Fir Glulam roof structure.

The new Old Crow Community Centre replaces the existing building, serving as a gathering and recreation space for Yukoners. The 913-square metre facility includes a community hall, commercial kitchen, administrative offices, an Elder's Hall, game's room, meeting spaces, and support spaces. The new community centre creates an inclusive and welcoming space for Yukoners to grow, connect, meet, and learn from one another.

Douglas Fir Glulam beams used to maintain the warm and comforting feeling from the existing facility. Community members wanted to maintain the circular shape and wood finishes from the previous centre. A circular round form was used to enclose the Community Hall, accentuating the circle with a intricate roof structure.
