Mosaic Centre for Conscious Community & Commerce
Glulam was the preferred choice for the first net-zero commercial building in Alberta, meeting stringent building challenges, while providing a beautiful interior look. Nearly all the scraps created during construction were reused at different places in the project.
This project was certified LEED® Platinum, as well as being the first net-zero commercial building in the province of Alberta. After a feasibility analysis, wood construction was favoured to meet all building science challenges, and provide an enhanced interior work environment. Nearly all of the wood scraps accumulated during construction were reused for benches, desks, washroom vanities, partitions, planters, and interior art. The carbon benefit of the wood structure is equivalent to the energy needed to operate a home for 121 years.
