Kelset Elementary School

North Saanich, BC

The design of Kelset Elementary School makes use of wood to embrace a warm, inviting West Coast aesthetic.

The 16-classroom schools includes a gymnasium, library, multipurpose room, daycare, and a specially outfitted art and music facility. With a design featuring natural landscaping, rising Glulam beams curving towards the sky were used to increase and enhance the natural light and natural ventilation in classrooms and administration areas. Local environmentally-sensitive wood was chosen for both its renewable properties and the appeal of the natural aesthetic. This project was designed to meet LEED® Gold standards.
