International Peace Garden Conservatory Expansion

Manitoba and North Dakota Border

The International Peace Garden Conservatory Expansion enables one of the world’s most diverse collections of cacti and succulents to grow and thrive, while promoting conservation awareness. Spanning the Canada–U.S. border, the project reflects cross-border collaboration through balanced design, construction, and material sourcing.

The Conservatory addition unlocks the ability for one of the world’s most diverse collections of cacti and succulents to continue to grow and be properly cared for, whilst raising awareness of the importance of preservation. Rooted in Turtle Mountain, the site is part of the International Peace Garden campus — a “celebration of peace and living monument to the ideals of friendship and cooperation,” straddling the Canada-U.S. border. The project prioritized equal country representation for design and construction teams, resources and building materials.
