Alberta Lieutenant-Governor Lois Hole’s love of books and her deep respect for nature provided the inspiration for the design of the Lois Hole Library in Edmonton. A tribute to the wonder of sunlight, the structure features a vaulted ceiling accented by Glulam columns and trusses that maximize the natural light that the province of Alberta is famous for.
- The architect chose Glulam columns and trusses because of its superior structural support, sense of warmth, and overall beauty.
- The Glulam truss system was designed with openings for natural light perfectly exposing the natural elements.
- Completed on budget, the $10-million library features columns and trusses fabricated in Western Archrib facility in Edmonton.
